Salesforce Commerce Cloud is a great choice for anyone who doesn't mind spending enough time and resources to take a chance and start selling online. But, if you are looking to build a one-stop eCommerce hub with builtin support for domain and hosting services — Shopify makes it easy to build your new store. So, the logical next step is to look for Salesforce to Shopify migration service. But, things can get complicated. So, we decided to make it easy for you with our most delinquent series - The Migration Center.Let the migration begin!
While we let the sweetness of the deal sink in a little deeper, let’s take a closer look at why it makes sense for Salesforce Commerce Cloud users to consider Shopify Plus.
Shopify has better hosting coverage in most business categories- Lifestyle, Electronics, Technology, Food and Beverage, including 20 other categories. SFCC is nowhere near this line. Shopify has its operations running with a total of 286,948 active websites and 251,445 unique domains in more than 160 countries. However, SFCC has only 11,309 and 7,667 websites and domains respectively.
It clearly means that Shopify can offer any hosting related service anywhere in the world with a strong community of Shopify experts and developers. As is with SFCC, technical support is not too great until users splurge on it.
Salesforce’s user interface is not very intuitive and most of the time, it needs updating. Customization is not flexible either. Users need a strong and better knowledge base to work on its infrastructure that includes the functions of other marketing and automation tools. Hence, it is unclear how one should get started with the whole system.
Users can take advantage of SFCC CRM and inventory management tools making it easy to manage robust inventory and financial operations. However, SFCC does not have enough flexibility to integrate with third-party apps and software suites curbing its functionality enhancement.
At the same time, Salesforce integration is quite challenging for developers. Even if the integration set up is allowed, the implementation takes longer than expected, which also depends on a training.
Shopify is well-known for its extensive integration capabilities with third-party apps and software tools. Shopify app store reserves a large number of options for every merchant that are significant to power any business type.
It is no secret that SFCC has taken care of omnichannel fulfillment which unifies customer shopping experience. However, small-to-mid-sized businesses struggle to benefit from ‘buy anywhere, and ‘fulfillment anywhere’’, that can easily streamline order management enabling shoppers to prefer anything- in-store pickup or delivery at home.
Shopify’s diverse range of omnichannel retail solutions is a great way to support small scale merchants. Shop- a newly launched direct-to-consumer app including the personal shopping assistant can make buying and tracking easy. Social commerce solutions with Facebook and Instagram allow building branded storefronts while giving customers a unique in-app shopping experience.

Use Google Analytics data from the last one year you think is good enough to fetch a higher traffic. If your site has no blog or subfolder, use a crawling tool and export all data to the Shopify site.
URLs between Salesforce and new platform Shopify can be different. Forget not to use 301 or permanent redirects. This forwards any ranking signals to the new Shopify site. Or else, you land your users to Not Found pages or (404s).
Before you begin the Shopify migration, ensure you have store access information. It includes store admin panel access, API password, and FTP access. Now, you can choose your plan and install Shopify.
Once you have completed the migration from SFCC to Shopify of all your data, you must first move your old domain to the new Shopify store by following the following steps:
Unlock your domain and obtain a code to transfer authorization. All you need to do is log in to your account with your third-party domain provider and find the domain settings you want to switch to, then press Unlock.
You may have to confirm these changes by email, depending on your domain provider. If so, the domain transfer process takes up to 20 days to complete. Shopify will give you a message confirming the successful transfer of your domain.
From your Shopify admin panel, click “Online Store” -> “Domains" -> “Transfer domains”.
Enter the domain that you want to transfer to Shopify, Click “Next”
Click “Verify domain”. You will see a “Domain unlocked” message
In the Verification code box, enter the authorization code and Click “Next” -> “Buy and transfer”
Furthermore, you can check if all your URLs have landed in your new store safely. Next, check that the new site is routed to all the old URLs. Secondly, there should not be any 404 pages or any chain of redirected links. Be sure to repair it as soon as possible if there are any, because those links will damage your SEO.
