With Twitter being one of the top social media platforms for business owners to showcase their new products and directly engage with their customers, the latest collaboration project with the number one ecommerce platform comes as no surprise.

Twitter, in collaboration with Shopify, launched a Twitter Shopping app earlier this month, allowing users to list their products directly on their Twitter Professional Profiles, and with each item, when tapped, be redirected to the Shopify product page to make a purchase.

As reported by Twitter:

“We built a Twitter sales channel app, available in Shopify’s App Store and through the Shopify admin, which enables merchants to connect their Twitter account to their Shopify admin and onboard onto our Shopping Manager – the entry point to our suite of Twitter Shopping tools where merchants can access and manage our shopping features.”

Features of the Shopify Twitter app

The newly introduced features include a carousel display of products on your profile and/or a dedicated product display page with Shopify-connected listings that are updated in real-time to reflect your Shopify inventory.

Twitter initially announced Shop Spotlight (originally named the ’Shop Modul) last July, to be added as a feature for Twitter Professional profiles.

Shop Spotlight was planned to be a dedicated space at the top of the business profile where merchants can showcase their products. The idea was to have an always-on window shopping experience that supports up to 5 products.

On the other hand, Twitter Shop is a fully-immersive and customizable virtual storefront that supports up to 50 products, shown in real-time.

The main idea behind both of these features was to allow customers to browse products directly on their Twitter profiles. And to be taken directly to the website's product landing page to learn more and purchase without leaving Twitter.

How to set up Twitter on your Shopify store

The setup process of the Twitter Shopping app and the integration into your Shopify store can be managed through a completely self-serve, easy-to-use flow within Twitter Shopping Manager that connects seamlessly to your Shopify product catalog.

All the updates are synced regularly and can be managed directly from your Shopify account.

Currently, the app and its functionalities are only available to Twitter Professional users and US-based merchants, but we are hoping to see an expansion for the rest of the ecommerce market soon.

The Twitter Shopping App is available for download through the official Shopify App store, so make sure you check it out for yourself.
