Kitchen Center is a big believer in customization and used personalized product recommendations from HulkApps across multiple site pages, as well as pop-ups on a seasonal basis. With a company constantly looking for ways to evolve and offer the best customer experience, the eCommerce team at the Kitchen Center wanted to ensure that any design strategy was rigorously A/B tested and optimized.

Historically, however, the team had been held back from doing as much testing as they'd wished. Most A / B testing tools were too complex to implement, required development work, or were not designed for the specific needs of eCommerce marketers. In addition, the team had concerns about testing variants of various approaches that ended up turning them into poorly exposed to revenue risk.

A. Easy deployment of high impact tests

When they were first introduced to the new A / B Testing and Optimization service provided by HulkApps, the Kitchen Center team knew the first thing they wanted to test was a different strategy on some of their highest-traffic category pages. They decided to test out custom recommendations based on brand and product affinity versus the experience of the status quo.

The results were that a 15 percent increase in conversion rate and an 8 percent boost in revenue per visitor was given by the new recommendation strategy. Such important and useful results — along with the fact that the test was so easy to set up — inspired the team to start preparing for additional tests immediately.

B. Testing while minimizing the risk of revenue loss

Once statistical significance is shown, HulkApps' Continuous Optimization service, which adjusts more traffic to winning variations, was empowered for this test at the start.
