According to a news release, Shopify this week introduced a new shoppable content tool called Shopify Collabs with the goal of bringing together creators and the platform's millions of merchants.

The tool is meant to help creators and merchants find each other based on their interests and tastes. This will help both parties make the most of their careers and show how important shoppable content is as a marketing tool.

Shopify has been trying to differentiate itself from growing platforms like TikTok in the shoppable content area. This new functionality comes as the firm experiences a slowdown in the number of merchants being added.

With a Shopify Collab account in hand, both creators and marketers can look for one another. When working with Shopify, creators can use the free Linkpop link-in-bio-tool to choose which products to promote in their content. Creators can also share things like unique links and discount codes with new tools.

Collabs are part of the Shopify family so that merchants can track inventory, orders, and customer information in real-time across all channels. The tool also handles the back-end payout so that both the creator and merchant get paid.

With the launch of Collabs, Shopify is trying to win back merchants leaving the platform because of higher prices and less consumer spending. The platform’s stock has dropped because of plans to lay off people worldwide. According to Reuters, there were only 71,000 new merchants in the first half of the year, compared to 680,000 at the height of the pandemic and 314,000 last year. With recent partnerships with Twitter, YouTube, Spotify, and TikTok, Shopify is also trying to become a dominant force in the shoppable content and creator space.

Shopify Collabs is an amazing new feature if you’re a Shopify brand that wants to either work with creators or create your own content.
